Cookers

The first decision to make when deciding which cooker to pick is the fuel supply it uses. Currently there are three varieties; 1) Gas, 2) Electric and 3) Duel Fuel. Most people's choice will already be made for them, many homes will need gas connected should they wish to buy a gas cooker. If their area isn't then it can be a complicated job, which will require a engineer to find a connection to a liquefied propane gas (LPG) supply. So why pick gas?, well it's generally cheaper to run than electric, offers superior temperature control and provides a water vapor cooking method which ensures food is left moist. The advantage of electric cookers is flexibility, they can located in most places in any given kitchen and offer a faster cooking time and improved features. The next choice is the size, built-in or freestanding. Built in cookers are seamlessly placed within your kitchen units, and the hob and oven are separated from each other. A freestanding cooker obviously speaks for itself. The width can vary greatly, from 50cm to 150cm depending whether the oven is a single or double. Hobs? again they are powered by either gas or electric. Electric hobs can be made be a standard hotplate or ceramic and both can feature touch sensitive controls. Trading Standards also grades cookers from A-G for energy efficiency, with A being the most energy efficient and low cost to run. Other essentials are hoods which are designed to take away the steam, fog and favours while cooking and splashbacks which are metal sheets which fit in between the hob and the cooker hood.
