We had the original DC01 and to be honest we had been disappointed with it. It broke down on a regular basis because it didn't like to continually pick up cat hair from our four long haired cats. But my friend said Dyson's filter and suction technology had improved a great deal and her DC07 Animal did a faultless job of hovering up after her two dogs.

I have now owned a DC07 for four years and seven months and it certainly sucks and grips the carpet well, and removes all the cat hairs from the carpet without the blockage issue. It also came with a "turbo brush" attachment which makes it easy to get under the cushions of your settee and chairs. It sadly has the same design problem as the DC01, it's too big at the front to go until low level furniture, and it's unless at hovering up the dust and dirt from the edges of the carpet.

I bought it from my Freemans shopping catalogue, I think it was for £229 (it was expensive, but I am sure you save on bags over a few years). It certainly hasn't suffered from the same blockage problem as the DC01, but the belt has snapped twice (the belts only cost £4.50 and my husband easily replaced it). After spending quite a lot of money on the initial purchase I am now glad I did. It has been a big improvement compared to the DC01.
