Technical Details: 900 Watts, 1.0 cu.ft - 27 litre capacity,
weighs 11.5kg, HxWxD 304x510x380 mm.
Features: Inverter technology, auto weight reheat and cook,
touch controls, stainless steel lining, five power levels and defrost,
child lock.
Pros: The automatic weight system allows for perfect microwaving,
simple add the weight of the food in the control system, and it will
do the rest. Whilst the inverter technology is somewhat of a mystery,
900 watts says it all, plenty of power at your finger tips, enough
to cut down on your waiting times with ease. The choas defrost is
a marvel, and genuinely works. We cannot comment on the reliability,
but on the face of it this looks a solidly built machine. Everything
has that reassuring clunk, and tactile feel of quality.
Cons: The stainless steel exterior looks the business, and
will especially suit a modern kitchen, thinking of those new inner
city apartments for young go getters. But it can smudge, and show
up finger prints, somewhat like a black automobile, always in need
of a clean to keep it's looks. It's comes with what Panasonic's
describes as an 'auto guide' (scrolling text on the little LCD panel),
and on the face of it this would indicate that this microwave is
easy to operate. Not so, Panasonic most likely included the guide
because it's tricky little beast to get the hang of. The touch controls
on any device can be fiddly at best, and there is no exception here,
it will take everyone a lot of tries before they have gotten the
hang of everything.
Verdict: One of the few stainless steel microwaves out there,
only let down by the complication of the controls. But that is to
expected with any top of the line microwave, they are never easy
to get the hang of. The exterior does smear, but that's a mild annoyance,
everything else is faultless, with performance that cooks quickly
and thoroughly.
