Technical Details: 1400W, Blockage indicator, HEPA filter,
two years manufacturers guarantee, "Turbo Tools" attachments
Features: Adjust the height of the vacuum for different
carpets in five stages, stair hose, quick release catch for the
storage container
Pros: The HEPA assured filtration and filter should ensure
that a room is left dust free when vacuum'd (they are expensive to
replace however, around about £20). Fairly inexpensive at around
£74.00, considering all the features packed in. This model also
features a good suction system, the multi-cyclonic rotating brushes
do a good job of picking up pet hairs, for owners of long haired cats
and dogs, this will be particularly welcome. The extension cable is
of a good length, commonly an oversight by many manufacturers. The
"Turbo Tools" are all stored at the rear of the handle,
which improves the appearance and usability.
Cons: Very noisy, most vacuum's make a din, but Vax have
excelled themselves in this respect. The vacuum comes in three parts,
the handle, main container and hose. The instruction manual explains
the process of setting up your vacuum. But it may be off putting
to some people, especially those with little technical knowledge,
having the job of putting the machine together. There are diagrams
and instructions for the assembly, but with most modern vacuum's
they come fully assembled out of the box. The waste container is
on the small side, you will probably need to empty it on a regular
basis, the quick release catch is handy, but it's still a tricky
and messy task of emptying all the waste.
Verdict: Inexpensive, provides plenty of suction power and
features. Let down by being very noisy. Vax vacuum's also have a
history of reliability problems. The belts, motors and brushbar
are all suspect areas, which may go at any moment, and may explain
the price tag.
