| Technical Details: 8.0 Megapixels,
4x optical zoom, 2.5 inch PureColor LCD
Features: DIGIC III processor, Face Detection, Red-Eye Correction,
Auto ISO Shift
Pros: Rugged design, developed from a tough aluminum body.
It takes excellent picture, with reliable exposure, image colour
rendition, detail, clarity, contrast and range. It produces next
to no barrel distortion. The AF system is speedy, and the redeye
correction works flawlessly.
Cons: It's not waterproof unlike some of the competition.
Not as strong as some of the titanium-bodied IXUS models, notable
the 960. I couldn't find a battery life indicator, it either does
not exist, or is particularly different to locate. A baffling omission
if true.
Verdict: A preferable option to the IXUS 960, which only
includes a titanium body and marginally higher resolution. Neither
which are essential. The 35-140mm telephoto range is standard for
a camera of this expense, but some die hards may prefer the 28-105mm
equivalent on the IXUS 850. Pricey considering the specification,
however, its been built to an extremely high standard.
