The F80 is one if the top single lens reflex film cameras on the market for the casual snapper. It's always had quite a heavy body, but on subsequent redesigns the weight has now to decreased to just 515g. The looks are stylish imho and it's nice to hold and grip. I prefer the all black version which I own compared to the black/stainless steel silver version. Alongside the basic F80 I own there is alot the F80D and F80s, these models allow you additional features like being able to . print the date and time information and shooting information like the exposure ratio. I can only imagine the professional and hardcore photo enthusiast being interested in this.

Compared to the Canon and Pentax SLR's I tried I'd say the F80 is probably the best in the range. I am sure the professionals will say it's firmly for the amateur photographer, but I think the aperture and shutter speed is good enough for most levels of picture shooting.

There is also plenty of custom settings to allow any photographer the personal preferences he/she will desire. Whether it's the single or continuous exposure, the excellent self-timer feature or exposure settings; it's all conveniently placed for the user.

The only downside I can think of with the F80 is the built-in flash and autofocus. When you use wither of these in low light areas it produces a bleaching effect to skin tones.

So overall I'd say the F80 is a middle range camera which has a quality superior to the Canon EOS in my honest opinion.
