My Konica revio has been with me many years, and accompanied me
on many weekend excursions and holidays. I've never felt like upgrading
it because I only require something to take a simple snap to remind
me of good times. Therefore the technicalities are not my main concern,
the KD-100 has all the essentials like a USB image upload cable
to PC, a small LCD monitor, and enough flash modes to keep me happy.
Where the camera excels for me is it's ease of use, the controls
are clear and simple, the size is compact and fits into any pocket
and weighing only 120g it doesn't become a millstone on a long day
out.
The megapixel level may not be upto modern day expectations, but
I assume the lens is of such a good standard, that's why the picture
come out so impressively. A knowledgeable friend said that Konica
lenses were named Hexanon. And that most of their optical lenses
were regarded as truly superb, and tests conducted by photo publications
proved their optics usually surpassed their competitors.
I paid around £79.99 in maybe 2002-03, I wonder if it's £15
in the bargain bin now :). The one thing which was a let-down was
the manual, the information is far too technical, the text tiny
and doesn't help the average beginner.
I congratulate Konica for making an excellent everyday camera for
the common man.
