HP HW6915

Technical Details: 3.0 inch screen, 416 MHz Intel PXA270 processor, 64 MB ram memory, 128 MB rom memory, 802.11b/e/g wireless modem, weighs 181 g, 1.3-megapixel camera, full QWERTY keyboard, quad-band phone.

Features: Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, Microsoft Mobile Office application software, TomTom satnav gps software, built-in Bluetooth and WiFi.

Pros: Plethora of features, too many to list. I was particularly impressed by the camera mechanism. Press a button on the side, and your PDA will double up as a 76mm LCD screen, it will also record videos. The 'MS Mobile Office' app comes with Word, Excel and Powerpoint, considering the cost of a stand alone Office purchase, it makes for excellent value for money. If you become a heavy user of the portable Office app you will need a Mini SD card. The combined ram and rom equals 192MB, which will not be enough.

Cons: Processor seems sluggish and unresponsive. The amount of ram included will not satisfy may users, a selection of memory cards will probably be needed by heavy business users. The full Qwerty keyboard is handy for writing emails, people with large stubby fingers may run into problems. The key are very small and slim. GPS receiver uses power, but there is no obvious way to switch it off. The gps chipset included is not the latest version.

Verdict: Plenty of features, a few niggles may put off some buyers. It takes too long to load programs up, the lack of on board memory is disappointing.

240x240 screen res is low, takes too long to respond to any command, keyboard is fiddily

I came across plenty of bugs, nor enough time to list individually, it's not a patch on my 6515........the delays in responding to any command had me banging my head against a brick wall, typically three seconds from pressing any button.

It was a toss up between the HW6915 and HP Hw6915. I went with the Hw6915, overall you get more for your money. I tried out both at my local Comet, both have has a solid feel, the keyboard and controls are complicated for a newbie. Both are extremely light considering the features included in these packages. Well worth investing in a cover to protect the screen and keyboard.
