Nokia N800

Technical Details: 330 MHz TI OMAP 2420 CPU, Flash 256 MB Hard drive, 128MB of ram memory, 802.11b/e/g wireless connectivity, 1x 256MB SDcard, 800x480 4.13 inch screen.

Features: Linux operating system, Opera 8 web browser.

Pros: 5-way navigation pad is easy to get the hang of. Linux OS has been implemented efficiently, and accepts a variety of third party application installations.

Cons: Battery life is poor with continuous use. 4-5 hours max.

Verdict: It's not strictly addressed as a PDA. Nokia like to classify the N800 as a "mobile Internet browsing device". It certainly excels in this function.

I have a PSP and a N800. I've never had any problems ripping DVD to M-peg4 with my PSP. I use the DVD decypter / PSP video 9 software for the ripping. My Nokia will not not recognise the M-peg4 that I drop into it. Any ideas?

I do nor know much about MPEG. Perhaps MPEG4 has different formats, and when you rip your DVDs using the PSP software it probably formats it to a standard that your Nokia cannot understand.

Microsoft for example no longer actively supports the standard format. I had to install an additional decoder pack for my Windows Media Player.

The MPEG standard was closely designed with the Quicktime architecture. I have also read that while some manufacturers says they support MPEG, they do not fully comply with the ISO standard. This can result in interoperability between manufacturers. ie, sony or nokia has not fully complied with the ISO. see http://www.mpegif.org/

I would begin by ripping your MPEG's with a Nokia compatible software app.
