Served me flawlessly for over 2 years of gaming, specifically Battlefield
2 coupled with 2 GB of memory and a 7800 GT graphics card. Never
clocked it as I am not that technically minded and not rich enough
to replace a blown CPU every month if I screw it up. I bought it
on the basis it included Intel's new hyper threading technology
which reviews in PC Gamer suggested way a smart way for Intel to
increase the system performance from their basic Pentium 4 series
of processors. Not only gaming but the technology allowed speeding
up of my work in other system hogging applications like CAD and
photo workshop 10. Recently I purchased Oblivion for my PC and noticed
the pentium was having a job running it at max res, so after 2 years
I felt it was about time to trade up. Read up on reports
about cpu's always before making a decision. If your bargain basement
gamer then for £100 I'd still recommend this processor, add
a good video unit and it will still handle all the latest games
at a reasonable frame rate.
