Technical Details: 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, Windows
Vista Business, 1GB DDR RAM, 120GB, 14 inch screen, based on the
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family. MiMo (Multiple in Multiple
out) technology via the Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n networking
capabilities.
Features: Built-in fingerprint scanner, Eco button.
Pros: Slim. Light. Competitively priced. Plenty of power
from the core CPU and 1GB of ram. NEC have also included a good
range of security features like a fingerprint scanner placed in-between
the mouse buttons. Enter to the BIOS is also secured by a two password
system in place. You can also lower the power consumption by way
of an Eco button, if your on a long road trip this can help preserve
battery life for a few extra, possible vital hours. Overall processing
and visual performance is considerable lowered, but for most business
users this will be acceptable.
Cons: Bland exterior, trackpad cna be tricky to get the
hang of, the keys are crisp to the touch. The materials used feel
like an Acer Aspire, with low quality cheap plastics. The overall
chassis feels solid however. It's a cheap laptop, NEC definitely
scrimped with the LCD display. The 1,280 x 800 native resolution
is acceptable, but the brightness and clarity is a big letdown at
most viewing angles.
Verdict: Aimed at business users, the screen size and brightness
is a letdown, overall multimedia performance is average. But for
business users they will find the security and power consumption
features useful. It's solidly built but with cheap materials, but
fairly light - weighing in at 2.3kg. There are better options available.
