best
value card at £80, toppled the 7600GT as the value leader.
can
be a little loud during system bootup.
It's a direct price competitor for the 7600GT, it's taken ATI quite
some time to catch up with nvidia and release this card, the wait
however has been worth it. I picked the Connect3D version of this
card because they are usually the cheapest third party manufacturer,
they do however package the card with the bare minimum of extras
like cables and free games. They tend to build their cards with
the standard ati components, so you will no be getting a custom
cooler or reference board to increase performance. Connect3D equate
- basic, standard and cheap. After prolonged use it can tend to
overheat a little and does become noticeably warm, if you care about
your cards max performance and longtivity then it could be a good
idea to make sure there is a good supply of fresh air supplied.
It's a worthy alternative to the 7600GT, it will not however stand
up against a over-clocked version of this card. Wait a couple of
months and you could buy this card at a bargain price, the release
of DirectX10 compatible mid range hardware will surely cause a dint
in the price. Good roundup
of hardware information at bit-tech if you want further reading
on this card.
