Communications giant BT has recently revealed they have purchased
Dabs.com. The fee paid has yet to be announced. Dabs.com on are
online e-tailer which focuses on IT and electronic goods.
Based in Bolton, they began as a mail order company in the late
1980's. Later they became one of the first companies to take full
advantage of e-commerce in the UK. They were years ahead of other
companies likes of 'PC World'.
This has enabled Dabs to process more than 75,000 orders every
month.
BT will retain the Dabs name, a spokesperson said,
"Dabs is an excellent purchase for us, well-respected and
catering for different markets"

The
prices at dabs are hard to beat.
I
hope BT will look into redesigning the websites, which is confusing
and far from being user friendly.
I've used Dabs a few times to order memory sticks and print cartridges.
I have yet to suffer from any delivery problems etc. The prices
on offer are usually the lowest around, some other companies like
komplett do usually match them, but rarely are they significantly
cheaper. My major gripe is the website, it was never very easy to
use to begin with. Around 1-2 years ago they redesigned it, but
I think they actually made it even harder for you to find what your
looking for. There are far too many categories, far too many products,
and old listings which have not got any stock. The specification
details are sometimes a mess and rarely do they include a quality
image of the product. I'd still rate Dabs.com as one of the best
UK sites out there to purchase your IT/computing goods, but that's
not saying much. There isn't much competition.
