Sonys DCR-HC32 Handycam features some stand-out abilities
at an affordable price. Such as NightShot which is an infrared system
for shooting video in low light conditions. There is also SteadyShot
which uses a motion sensor to improve picture stabilization. With
USB streaming you can also easily transfer video to a PC for editing
and then to burn onto a dvd. So was it to use? The first aspect
I enjoyed was the compact size, the unit easily fitted into my coat
pocket and there certainly was no lugging around due to the lightness
of the DCR-HC32. Of course there is a trade off for this compact
size, the buttons and mode selector were a fiddle and hard to reach
for an average-sized man's hand. The built-in lens cover is another
nice feature and adds to the great mobility and ease of use for
this camcorder. With conventional lens caps they usually pop off
when the camcorder is in your pocket. Therefore this simple feature
is something I really enjoyed. The LCD display is also impressive,
the picture is bright and clear. Unlike with some camcorders you
can view the picture at any angle, you do not need to be facing
it straight on. When testing the NightShot feature in low light
conditions it seemed much better than similar features from other
brands. Not perfect, but a big improvement to all those I have tried
before. Alongside the high reliability ratings Sony usually receives
for optical products this is good buy in my opinion.
