Sony's midrange DCR-HC42 is a stylish little camcorder, that also is also laden with features. Recording with this compact DV camcorder is truly widescreen, as the 1 Megapixel CCD Imager and 2.7-inch Wide Hybrid Touch Panel LCD will always capture and playback your images in true 16:9 widescreen format. The video capture and transfer features are a strong point with this model, you can easily capture video images quickly and transfer them to other media devices with ease. As with most Sony camcorders this model comes with the professional quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, they capture life like color and tones. Then combine this with the Advanced HAD CCD imager and the DCR-HC42 provides magnificent detail, contrast and clarity. Plus there isn't the typical Sony low light condition problems, Sony seem to have got over this by advising customers to either use their nightshot or the backlight. It doesn't include a memory stick, but for the price there is lots of superb features, and it's very easy to operate.
