Price, Quiet, Lots of recording formats.
Only uses 8x recordable DVDs. Problem is most of them found in shops are 16x.

My only complaint is it's not compatible with many recordable DVDs out there. Only uses DVD-R & DVD-RW at 8x. The digital video noise reduction helps quieten the noise when recording, not a single glitch or error when recording.

Easy to setup and get running, however I have not figured out how the videoplus successfully works.
It's a little slow to begin a format process etc, but it has compatibility with my other toshiba DVD recorder.

What I love about this recorder,

- It takes little more than two touches to begin recording.
- An idiot proof setup system and disc menus.
- Plenty of recording formats like 1, 2, 4 and 6 hours. There are different quality modes like DVD and VHS.
- Can edit discs with software to trim unwanted bits from the start and end of recordings.

The bad:

- The recorder can take time to warm up and on a rare occasion has occasionally hanged.
- The edit mode will take some reading up about and can be problematic for noobs. I have not figured out how to split titles, and then add chapters.
- Could not download the new edit software via the website address provided, but there are plenty of other software titles out there which do the job fine.
