Currently as low as £45.98 the DVD-S29 is well built machine
with nice silver styling and a solid chassis. It also includes the
standard features of a dvd player of this price range; Advanced
Progressive Scan (PAL/NTSC), Touch AV Enhancer, Variable and Auto
Zoom, Built-In DTS, Dolby Digital Decoder, and Advanced Disc Review.
I doubt many people will find this dvd player difficult to setup
and use, it is incredibly easy to use, includes simple controls,
and a good LCD display on the front of the dvd player. The connection
procedure to your television should take no more than 2 minutes,
and is easy to lift and move around. So how does it play dvd's?
I tested Martin Scorsese's ' Casino' because the opening Vegas sequence
is a good testing ground. The picture quality seemed pretty good,
maybe not outstanding, but certainly around that expected of a £45
machine. If a good quality scart cable is used, then it will be
improved. The player does support component video out, whereas the
TV I used did not, so I could only test it using a decent quality
scart cable. Changing any display options was simple such as subtitles,
screen size etc. The big question is whether you need just a machine
to play dvd's? dvd recorder or combo video players are now coming
down in price. If all you want it to do is play your dvd's, then
the DVD-S29 should accomplish your needs nicely.
