Great little recorder which is easy to use, I've had no problems
writing or recording any of my fav tv programs and films to dvd.
I read a good review of it in the which magazine and they recommended
it because of the large hard disc.
With 160GB it certainly means I do not have to worry about clearing
old data everyday. Installation is also simple and the Liteon provided
all the cables and scart leads with the LVW 5045. Another nice touch
was them including a free blank DVD+RW disc, so need to pop out
to the shops again if you forgot to buy one
Those of you wishing to burn dvd's to dvd via the hard disk will
be disappointed however. Liteon have included pirate protection
so you cannot tranfer copyright protected data onto a blank dvd.
So bang goes another business venture :). However I had no problem
transfering mp3 files from the hard disk to a blank disc.
I would rate the graphical user interface and ease of use as the
LVW 5045's best feature. Setting editing options is a breeze and
you can easily cut adverts out of films and programs from ITV and
Sky. There are also recording quality options which means you can
store longer amount of video onto the hard disk.
Overall it's good value for money, the writing speed of 4x is a
little slow.

You will not have any worries of running out of recording space
with this offering from Lite-On. They have included a 160 GB HDD
Hard Disk Drive so store all your recording onto. How many hours
of recording does this convert into? you should expect around 198
hours in the SLP mode. In there, you can utilize all the editing
functions to the titles and then save them onto discs respectively
to share them with family or friends. They have also included a
DV-Link port so you can connect a camcorder direct. So with the
inclusion of the optical disc drive and built-in HDD drive you can
easily record your camcorder footage onto the HDD. The LVW-5045
allow you to record onto DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW and CDR/RW discs.
And with the Lite-On chapter editing feature you can hide unwanted
television adverts when you record from television recordings. This
model is certainly good value for the amount of storage space and
new technological features included. But I have heard of bugs and
reliability issues with this model.
