The unit itself is sleek and stylish, with a new pebble like style.
The question is whether the NW-A3000 only offers style, and that
the old adage "style over substance" is apt when describing
it. The main problem seems to be usability. It took me over two
hours to transfer a couple of albums to it, and this was with plenty
of difficulty and frustration. The software it comes with seems
a real problem and disappointment. Many people I know who have owned
this player complain about it. The unit seems basic and simple with
only three main buttons on the front. But operation of the player
does seem to take a long time to get used to. Accessing the music
transferred also seems another difficulty, with you being required
to go back and forward through the library. Sony have not included
the option of programming tracks or even albums on the NW-A3000.
This seems a major omission. Instead you have a bookmark function
which instead tries to act like a play-list, the major problem being
that you cannot play any track whilst it is being programmed. If
you do try this your track will be interrupted and paused every
time a new track is added. It seems the NW-A3000 has been poorly
thought-out and maybe rushed into production to compete with the
iPod. The only reason to purchase this player is for the looks.
