In terms of screen size it matches the upper echelons of the plasma
market, it truly is a big screen experience and the speakers provide
a loud and luscious sound. It's great for playing xbox live, my
360 supports high def so games like gears of war will blow you away.
For a TV of this price of course the clarity of the pictures superb,
has a multitude of scart, component, VGA, hdtv and other inputs,
settings for the MHz of the screen and adjustable for each of the
individual inputs.
It was simple to setup all my connectable devices like my newly
purchased SkyHD box, my Denon surround sound system and Xbox 360.
Especially when setup with HD on the 306, you will find that the
on screen text is much easier to read, the colours are sharper and
of course the overall detail is far better than on normal settings.
All this goes for SkyHD as well. There are sadly just two sky HD
movie and sports channels, but I expect this to rise in the incoming
years.
Large screen TV's usually suffer from poor detail, but thankfully
with HD I would rate the detail equal to that of the best CRT machines.
It will maybe take 20-30mins to get your TV up and running and to
tweak all the settings.

The Viera tech has dominated the plasma market worldwide for the
last few years, in Japan alone they sold close to 75% of all plasma
screens. It's not hard to see why, and it's the reason I nearly
one. Then I checked out Pioneer. The contract cannot be equaled
and with a HDTV 1920:1080 setup you will have a perfect picture.
It also features a HDMI socket which allows you to connect a PC
to your screen and use it as a monitor. The amount of colours on
offer cannot be beat either, most of their latest models have at
least 29 billion, and a total of 3070 color steps. The contrast
rate has also been increased by an incredible amount, it's now at
10000:1 whereas many other manufacturers have models with only 3000:1
or 4000:1. They are now using a different type of glass to other
manufactures which makes a Pioneer screen about 30% thinner and
also means more light weight. You'll need a cinema system to match
it, the speakers are not upto much. Otherwise there is nothing out
there to equal it except maybe a VIERA.

Considering the money involved I decided to take my time and pick
the right screen. I looked into most brands like LD, Sharp, Philips
and Sony. After reading What! magazine and trawling the web I picked
upon Panasonic. Most reviews rated VIERA as the premium picture
technology. But after checking out Pioneer I was blown away instore
from there HD setup on display. When I got it setup at home I was
somewhat disappointed with the quality displayed on standard television
transmission, the picture can blur at high speeds. But once my Sky
HD box arrived the television was worth every penny. The detail
is simply astounding, most sellers of HD will highlight that while
watching a football match on Sky you can see the details of every
face in the crowd. This is actually true and amazes me everytime.

Excellent contrast and brightness, the ratio gives a sharp, well
defined picture. You can now find it for a low price with the new
plasma screens now being released.
