It won the What TV and Video award and that's always enough for me to purchase an electronics device. This is not one of your crappy analogue recorders but a digital video recorder which means quality of video and sound light years ahead, oh yeah baby!

For your techno dweeb they will no doubt have problems with the software updates and the initial subscription cost of £199 was excessive enough to put most people off in the beginning.

But since the launch the price and usability has improved even if the Sky customer support has not, nothing new there though :D. Tivo is now legendary among the tech fraternity because it is essentially a video without tape, and uses something resembling your computer hard disc to record on.

Tivo is one smart cookie as well, it's like Hal from 2001 Space Odyssey it starts to understand all your viewing habits and records from it. I am actually get worried Tivo has some AI and will soon start bumping off my family members if they mention replacing it.

You don;t even need to record onto a tape because you can just archive them forever. For those wanting DVD they now have machines with Tivo dvd recording rather than VCR.

I'm a fan if you haven't guessed :D hal tivo FUMA yeah yeah
