Hi, I have a Toshiba SD270E.
Is there a way to make it play region free?

There is a hack procedure which works for my Toshiba machine, I got it from the Amazon site when reading a review there, goes as follows,

- Turn on the dvd player
- Then simply open the dvd disc tray
- Then you press a sequence of numbers in this order "9879 0"
- Then the LCD display will show this message "The Reg.No was changed to:"
- All you need to do is insert the region number you require (0-6)

It supports DivX.
Poor memory, when I switch is off it will not save my viewing position for very long.

I had been looking for a DivX player, as a supplement to a 440H. I choose the SD270E, because it can be picked up for around 30 quid. It also has a goof user interface, will play the vast majority of file formats and discs, and is slimline. Toshiba do not support SACD, and I doubt they ever will. Do not mix this format with SVCD.
