The first thing that hits you with the Zen Vision M is the design. It looks like a poor man's iPod in all honesty. Priced around £213.84 - £235.78 it's also a good deal more expensive than the Apple iPod 30GB at £180 - £251. So you get no more storage space than the iPod, and a copied design for maybe £30 more. This really isn't looking good for the Zen Vision M. Luckily the Vision M does have some distinct advantages over the iPod. Firstly the sound quality is superior, I am sure most people would agree that the iPod is lacking in this respect, and no matter how you fiddle with the graphic equalizers it can't match the Zen. The Zen also features a radio, this is no doubt why the Vision M is a little larger and heavier than the iPod and costs a little more. I would suggest the Vision M is the first mp3 player from Creative to successfully play video streams, and of course to compete with the 5th Generation iPod. In the past the Creative I-river models were poorly designed with a bulky frame and poor video capabilities if any. The Vision M supports TiVo To Go and also a built-in voice recorder. The player also comes with a power adapter, earphones, sync adapter, software, USB 2.0 mini-B cable and carrying pouch. So you certainly do get a few extra features compared with the iPod. The question is do you want a built in radio and voice recorder?, if the answer is yes than the Zen is a serious proposition to consider. Along with it's superior sound quality it's more than a match for the iPod. The downside?, a cheap copied design which certainly will not help you in the fashion stakes. The iPod also excels in it's interface, no other multimedia device can compete with Apple in this respect.
